October Update

Oct 5th, 2016

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update on the status of our iOS app. We've finished Jungle Journey, one of our more complicated games, so we'll be updating the app with that new game very soon. We expect updates to be more frequent after this next update -- most of our games won't take as long as Jungle Journey.

This next update will take a little bit of time as we update everything to use Swift 3. Swift is the programming language used to make iOS apps, and the new version will require some additional work on our end to update our existing code to make sure everything works as expected. With this update, we have some frustrating news. Moving to Swift 3 means that the iOS app will no longer work on the iPhone 4s or the iPad 2. This is something we're unhappy with, but unfortunately, this forced obsolescence is something that comes along with the platform. If it was our choice, we'd make it available to all hardware out there, regardless of how old it is, but Apple makes this impossible. We wanted to point this out now, before the next update is released, so that it comes as less of a shock if it isn't available on your current Apple device. I can assure you that we share in your frustration -- those are the two devices we used to test the app, so we no longer have the option to test on actual hardware on our end unless we invest thousands of dollars in new hardware.

If you have any questions, please let us now.

The new app looks good so far. I hope overall the keyboards will be larger. So often my students complain they can't press the correct note because it is too small even though they gonto full screen.

We've increased the size of the keys in the updated version of the app, please let us know if that's a bit easier.
